CCI Mentoring
The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) is dedicated to educating and promoting a more diverse student body and workforce in the field of computing. In addition to CCI advising, tutoring, and business partners, mentoring is an integral part of student success.
Research shows that those who are mentored achieve a stronger sense of belonging to the university, greater career advancement, larger professional networks, and confidence than those who are not mentored.
CCI Mentoring has various initiatives for students to engage in mentorship and professional development. The NorthState CCI Mentorship Program is devoted to creating greater gender equity in computing by pairing up students with a corporate mentor. Corporate mentors are IT leaders who provide career guidance and support. Speed Mentoring is a new series open to all CCI students to connect with an industry leader in a small group setting. CCI Mentoring also sponsors students to attend local and national conferences, including the Grace Hopper Celebration, Tapia Conference for Diversity in Computing, and Fleurix Conference.
